My name is Mary Ann Dente and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. For over 10 years, I have been working with adults and children experiencing grief, loss, and crises. My interest in caregiving and loss began as a volunteer providing supportive counseling over the phone to the elderly in my community. Upon obtaining my undergraduate degree at Florida International University, I worked with people living throughout the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the U.S islands who were experiencing loss and crises as I answered calls for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and the Veteran’s Hotline. After graduating with my master’s degree, I worked in community mental health agencies, crises stabilization units, homeless shelters for youth and families, and nursing homes. This vast exposure to people of different walks of life and diverse circumstances has taught me that pain hurts the same regardless of the cause, and despite this or as result of this, our human resiliency always prevails.
